Funds and Asset Management
Cyprus is emerging as a new investment fund centre in Europe thanks to the continuous efforts for evolving and upgrading the relevant regulatory frameworks for asset managers and alternative investment funds. Our firm has built a reputation for its experience in the area of funds and asset management and our knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework under local legislation.
Our goal is to build long-term relationships with clients and to provide them with comprehensive services, assisting them with day-to-day issues as well as advising them on standalone projects.
Our lawyers have a wide understanding of the business environment in which funds and their service providers operate and have developed in-depth knowledge and technical awareness of the local applicable legislation.
We aim to work in collaboration with our clients from launch to winding up, advising on the implementation of investment objectives and strategy as well as on any issues that arise during their lifecycle. We advise on structuring, establishment, promotion and restructuring and reorganisation of investment funds under local law and we regularly assist on regulatory matters and issues relevant to the ongoing operation of investment funds offered to retail investors as well as to a limited number of professional and well informed investors. We are involved in funds of different legal forms which have a variety of underlying asset types. Also we advise on the setting up of asset management companies, their ongoing requirements and applicable regulatory compliance matters as well as other issues of concern for such entities.
We stay abreast of the rapidly changing conditions and developments and maintain broad relationships with the local industry and the regulator. Members of our firm are active members of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) participating in its legal and regulatory committee. Our work and representation on CIFA gives us first-hand knowledge of the workings of the fund industry and upcoming regulatory and other developments enabling us to bring insights to the projects on which we advise. Lawyers from our team were members of a group of local lawyers providing feedback to foreign consultants who advised on the direction of the fund industry in Cyprus and suggested relevant regulatory changes.
Our team acts for a range of clients in the investment funds and asset management sector which includes financial institutions and asset managers, start-up funds, investment advisors and other service providers to the industry as well as institutional investors and other investors.
Our lawyers provide transactional and regulatory support for established funds and asset managers including advice on legal aspects of investments and transactions, admission of new investors, regulatory and ongoing compliance requirements and corporate governance and drafting of agreements with service providers. Moreover, we provide advice to potential and existing investors in established funds or funds in formation on legal aspects of their investment and relevant implications.
In addition to the above we consult asset managers and investment firms which are active in this field on structuring possibilities with regard to their activities and on their regulatory obligations under local law.
